About Me

A Navy brat and graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz, LORRIE FARRELLY is proud to be a Fightin' Banana Slug. (Well, okay, we're really lovers, not fighters.)

Following graduate school at Northwestern University, she began a career in education that included teaching art to 4th graders, drama to 8th graders, and finally, math to high school students (if anybody loses asymptotes, she can probably find 'em...).

She's a three-time winner on television's Jeopardy! quiz show (despite forgetting the chemical symbol for sulfuric acid ... oh, wait - she never knew that in the first place), has shepherded wide-eyed foreign exchange students along Hollywood Boulevard ("As many stars and lunatics as there are in the Heavens"), and happily curried and shoveled as a ranch hand at Disneyland's Circle D Ranch. And always, she writes.

Lorrie has won a Presidential Commendation for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics. She's been a Renaissance nominee for Teacher of the Year and a finalist for the Orange Rose Award in romantic fiction. She's never won the lottery, except where her family is concerned. For her, they're the ultimate prize.

Lorrie's novels, be they historical, contemporary suspense, or sci-fi romances, all contain at least a touch (and sometimes much more than a touch!) of the paranormal:

I'm delighted to announce my new release, TERMS OF TEMPTATION, the 3rd book in the exciting and emotional saga of the Cantrell and Devlin families of Wyoming! If you enjoy Old West action and romance with a touch of the paranormal, this series, which began with TERMS OF SURRENDER, continued in TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT, and now adds a brand new adventure in TERMS OF TEMPTATION, is for you!

If you're unfamiliar with the series, I'd like to introduce you to Lieutenant Gavin Cantrell, a young cavalryman who fell at the Battle of Antietam, but whose purpose hasn't begun to be finished.

We first meet Gavin in TERMS OF SURRENDER, where he appears to his desperately wounded brother, Michael:

Gavin shook his head, fracturing the aura of light and scattering it into brilliant shards of color. Michael winced but could not look away.
"Damn you, you died," he growled in a hoarse whisper.
'Well, now, that's true, Mike, but it ain't exactly polite for a body to call attention to the fact. Specially in an ungodly manner." Gavin tried to look affronted, but his eyes, the same brilliant, deep blue as his brother's, shone with affection and no little mischief.
"Sorry," Michael muttered. Inexplicably, tears filled his eyes, shaming him. Somehow he seemed helpless to stop them.
"By God, little brother," he rasped, choked with emotion, "but it's damned good to see you."
Gavin smiled, recognizing reverence when he heard it. He sat down on the edge of the cot, his hip pressed lightly against his brother's side. Michael wondered vaguely why he couldn't feel Gavin's touch. Then the reason came clearly to him.
"Am I dead, too, Gavin?" he asked, and was surprised to find that he cared about the answer. *

And now, catch up with Gavin and Michael and their stubborn, passionate, courageous family in TERMS OF TEMPTATION:

Scooping up a stone, Bram chucked it with ill temper into the tumbling water, but it did nothing to ease his unhappiness. Elbows propped on his knees, he dropped his head forlornly into his hands.
"Reckon you've been havin' a rocky time of it lately, haven't you, suh?"
"Sweet Jesus!" Bram yelped, so startled that he slipped on the damp ledge and fell flat on his backside. He scrabbled backward, staring ashen-faced and drop-jawed at the Confederate gray-clad youth sitting casually on the rock, one arm resting easily on his raised knee.
"Nope, ?fraid not," the soldier smiled. "Reckon it's just li'l ol' me."
A warm, brilliant glow pulsed softly around him, and his cavalry hat was once again tipped to the back of his head, revealing his thick, tousled gold curls. His blue eyes were sympathetic as he regarded the shocked, gaping man.
"G-Gavin? Bram croaked, eyes wide. "How ... what ARE you?" *

Many thanks to LINDA TONIS for her review of TIMELAPSE:
5***** Stars
Book: TIMELAPSE
Author: Lorrie Farrelly
Publisher: Amazon Digital Services Genre: Sci-Fi/Time Travel
Rating: Adult
When Alex Morgan's car was hit by a drunk driver, causing his pregnant wife's death, he thought his world had ended. Doctors, able to save his unborn son, gave him his only reason to live. Alex has devoted the last four years to raising his son, Jack. What he never expected, was his life turning into a nightmare.
Alex is an Assistant Professor in American History at Capital University in Georgetown. He has been given a small office that once belonged to Professor Casterson, now on leave. A call to his home one night about a break-in at his office, brings Alex back to the University to clean up and check what is missing. He finds what appears to be a cell phone, but it actually turns out to be some sort of time device. Knocked out, Alex wakes up to find himself in what he assumes is the future. Nothing is familiar, and he is once again in his office at the University, only this time troopers are shooting at everyone in sight, including him.
Doing the only thing he can think of, he manages to get hold of a troopers uniform and is about to steal a van. The van is a transport for prisoners, and he finds himself rescuing a young boy. The young boy in question turns out to be a young woman. She is Jessie O'Neil, part of the Freedom Brigade, a resistance group trying to bring back the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. Alex faces one surprise after another, America is under Martial Law, the President is in office for life, public displays of affection are forbidden and his parent's were never married, and therefore, he never existed. Is his wife Casey alive? Is his son Jack alive?
Amazingly, Alex discovers that he is in the right time but the wrong world. People live in fear. Soldiers can shoot and kill as they want. People accused of crimes are hung in public. Famous museums and monuments no longer exist. As Jessie and Alex try to hide from the troopers looking for her, they begin to having feelings other than fear, they are falling in love. Alex knows that the device he has is the answer to changing the world as it is today, if he can figure out how to work it. How far back does he have to go? Can he undo the damage that caused the United States to be what it is? If he changes things does that mean that Jessie would no longer be in his life? Will he get his son back?
This is a fascinating book with amazing characters. Jessie is only twenty-two and yet is willing to put her life on the line for a better world. Alex is willing to do whatever it takes to get his son back and bring the United States back to it's former glory. It is a story of courage, people risking it all to fight for peace. I was hooked from the first page and couldn't put the book down until the end.

I hope you enjoy this brief excerpt from my Orange Rose Award finalist novel TERMS OF SURRENDER, a Western historical romance with a touch of the paranormal. Former Confederate cavalry Captain Michael Cantrell, grievously wounded when he stepped into a young woman's battle to save her life and land, is visited by his brother.

His dead brother.

From TERMS OF SURRENDER:

"Brother, you are in purely sorry shape."

Gavin shook his head, peering down at Michael with a bemused smile. Dazed, Michael was entranced by the clear, unearthly light that glowed in a shimmering aura around his younger brother. It had no warmth, and yet it fascinated him, drew him in. Although the rest of the room remained obscured in predawn darkness, Gavin was brightly illuminated. It was purely fascinating, that light.

"Listen up now, Mike! My stars, but you're a sight. Damned if you ain't all mommocked up." The boy shook his head again, whistling softly through his teeth.

"Gavin," Michael croaked, eyes wide with ragged disbelief. "You're ... you ... you died."
