Please tell us a little bit about yourself
I was born and raised in North Central Oklahoma in a very small town of only 700 and some odd people, maybe less. lol I have a nine year old son named Brian. I'm a certified elementary teacher and working on getting a high school / junior high certification. I've been writing since I was 17 years old. I started writing on my current book Celtic Rose along with the other two books in the trilogy then. At age 21 I had over half of each book written and probably would have finished them soon after but they were destroyed and I was devastated so I quit writing for a long time. When I was in my first year of college in 2006 I was convinced by my cousin and some friends that I needed to start writing again. I did and I'm so glad, it turned out so much better than the first time and now it's published. I followed a dream that no one thought I could do and made it.
What were your inspirations for writing or becoming an author?
My inspirations were my dreams. The stories were all right there and my dreams continued for several nights. It just seemed like the story wanted to be told, so I told it. No person I had ever known in my life had ever been an author and I was extremely different and unique from the rest of my family and friends. A few thought I could do it while others didn't think I could because no one ever had, but I did and now I'm inspiring other people to want to write and it feels so good. I love being an inspiration to others so I guess you could say my inspiration was being an inspiration to others. :)
Tell us about your Book.
I'm working on a trilogy right now. Celtic Rose is the first book in the trilogy and it's about an Irish princess and a Scottish prince who fall in love, but are cursed on their wedding day before they can say their vows. It has several other characters tied to the couple that end up cursed with them because they tried to either protect or avenge them. The extra's are a twin brother to the Irish princess, the adopted sister to the Scottish prince who is actually an Amazon, a guardian werewolf, and a red headed Scotsman who was betrothed to the Irish princess. Other characters join as the story moves on but these are the main ones. I'm in the process of working on the second book in the trilogy, Celtic Rose II: The Awakening, and the third will be Celtic Rose III: The Child. The title for the last one may change depending on the progress of the story, but these are my starting titles.
Why did you write it?
I wrote this story because it wanted to be told. I wanted to get it out there and have people read it. It would be amazing if people who read the story are touched and want to read more about the characters. I'd love for the readers to relate to the characters and feel like they're in the story with them, cry with them, laugh with them, and get angry with them. That is my true dream for writing this story that others will get lost in it and want to know more.
Why should people buy it?
There are thousands upon thousands of authors out there so I won't delude myself into thinking I'll become one of the most popular authors in the world, but I would hope people would buy it because they want it, because they like it, and because they're just really interested in my story line. This story wants to be told, but it can't be without the readers. Readers are essential to the life span of every story and I can only hope and pray that I am worthy enough to be a name they look for when hunting for books to read.
Where can readers find your book?
Just about any online vendor. The last I checked there were 33 online vendors listed as carrying my book, including international vendors. I am working on getting the book on shelves in the actual stores. Locally my book will be on the shelves at Hastings book store very soon.
Do you have any book trailers, etc.?
I have a wonderfully young artist from shadowness.com working on some art for my book so I can put them in a book trailer. My Muse and I are working on getting one out very soon.
Do you have any upcoming events such as book signings, speaking engagements, etc.?
On May 5th I had my very first book signing in my small town home. I walked in with 30 books and left with zero. It was a very exciting time. I'm working out the details with Hastings in Enid, Oklahoma to set up a book signing for the near future. I'm also going to be working with Joann Buchanan author of I Am Wolf and talk show host of the Eclectic Artist Cave to set up some more promotional activities for the near future.
