Book: The Lost Jewels of Hera
Author: Kelly Abell
Publisher: World Castle Publishing
Genre: Fantasy Romance
At one time Earth was a peaceful place, no floods, fires, earthquakes or volcanoes, but all that changed because of an angry and jealous goddess, Hera. When she found out, once again, that her husband, Zeus, was with a human woman, she decided to punish humans and her husband. Zeus had gifted her with a magnificent necklace to show his loyalty and devotion, it contained four precious jewels and each jewel was bonded to an element. The diamond contained Aeris, the air elemental, the sapphire Aqus the water elemental, Emerald held the heart of Terra, Zeus' daughter who was the earth elemental, and the ruby contained flames of Ignis, the fire elemental. In her rage she tore the necklace apart and scattered the jewels to parts unknown.
As soon as the jewels were scattered each of the elementals disappeared as well and were confined on Earth as demi-gods until they could find their jewel and put the necklace back the way it belonged. Unfortunately, the guardian of the jewels must be found, since she is the only one that can put the jewels in the proper order. If not, earth would face massive destruction.
Enter Kindra Ceres, an archeologist who is convinced that the legend of the necklace is true and she is determined to find the jewels. Kindra has always believed she was meant to find the jewels. She has left New York to attend a conference in London where she is a keynote speaker. She is positive when she gives her speech about the lost jewels, she will find a backer with enough money to finance her expedition. The one man that offers to back her is named Cyrus Hayden, a man who gives her the creeps. There is something vile about him. What she doesn't know is that he is a minion of Hades and has been sent to assist Kindra in finding the jewels and returning them to Hades.
Kindra is very leery where Cyrus is concerned. However, she knows if no other backer comes forward, she will be forced to accept his terms. With luck, a handsome man, Ryan Colburn, agrees to finance her, no matter the cost. He is also keeping a secret. He is the guardian that Zeus has sent to protect her and he is also known as Aqus, the water elemental. Unaware that she is Terra and has been reincarnated a number of times, she and Ryan set off to find the jewels. When she has a dream about Atlantis, she realizes that this was probably where the first jewel would be found. She also dreams that she was there when Atlantis was destroyed. Atlantis was the first in her three failures trying to put the jewels in correct order.
Ryan and Kindra feel a strong attraction toward each other, but as many times as she tries to push the relationship forward, he backs away. She knows that she has a strong feeling for a man she only sees in her dreams, a man who claims she is his mate, but is that possible? How can he be her mate when she never saw him? In addition, Ryan keeps saying she belongs to someone else. Will she get her memory back? Will she finally get all the jewels and put them in the right order? Can she have a life with Ryan even if she is said to belong to another?
If you love mythology and fantasy, then you will love this book. We meet the Gods and Goddesses on Mt. Olympus and learn a lot about them. We also find out about the demi-gods, those who are the offspring of Gods and humans. Of course, we can't forget about Hades and his determination to obtain the necklace and get back what he feels his brother Zeus took from him. There are a lot of questions and surprises, but all questions are answered.

Book: Haunted Destiny
Author: Kelly Abell
Publisher: World Castle Publishing
At the age of fifteen, Destiny Dove's life was forever changed. On the way to Disney World Destination, her father, mother and eighteen month old brother were in a car accident, an accident that killed her parents instantly when they were thrown from the car. She and her little brother were trapped inside. As she fought to get her brother out of his car seat, Destiny was pulled from the car. When the police officer went back to the car to get her brother, the car exploded leaving Destiny all alone.
The only family Destiny has is her grandmother Rose, a woman she never saw until the day she came to take her home from the hospital. All her life her mother had told her that her grandmother was crazy, now Destiny will have to find out for herself. Rose is the town palm reader and owns a New Age book store in Arcadia, Florida. Destiny's mother never approved of what Rose did for a living, and kept her family away from her. But Destiny is about to learn more about her family then she ever expected.
Now Destiny is in a new place, having to go to a new school and meet new people. When two kids pull up to her grandmother’s house, she takes this as a good sign, but that is not how it turns out. Jake Turner meets Destiny and immediately wants to be her friend and help her, while his girlfriend, Amy Morgan, on the other hand sees her as competition and wants to destroy her. Things will only get worse.
When Destiny meets a man named Patch, she finds out that he has been dead for forty years... Like her grandmother and her mother, she has inherited The Shade Sight, which passes from generation to generation through the females. It is this sixth sense that her mother ran away from, refusing to accept her gift.
Destiny can see ghosts and talk to spirits. The ghosts are those who have refused to go to the light, and the spirits are those who have passed on. Her grandmother has spent her entire life trying to bring peace to the ghosts that have not moved on yet, and help the families connect with their dead loved ones. Now that Destiny has found out what she is, will she accept her gift, or run away from it like her mother?
Trouble comes in the form of an antique bedroom set, which Amy's mother has bought for her. The set comes with a tragic history. Evil resides in this set and without realizing it Amy's mother has invited that evil into her home. The evil threatens to destroy all around it. Will Destiny be able to destroy it? How far will this evil go? Can she save Amy and her family before they are all destroyed? Can she save Jake, who spends a good amount of time at Amy's house?
This was a wonderful book and I totally forgot that it was a young adult book. Although the characters are teenagers, the story is just as interesting for adults. I should know, since I am "very adult". You can't help but love Destiny and Jake, two very caring, sensitive young people. And, I especially loved the little unexpected twist at the end.
If you love a mystery and ghosts, then you will love this book.

Series: Hunters of the Cross Chronicles – Episode 1
Author: Kelly Abell
Publisher: Solstice Publishing
Rating: Mature Adult Content
Meet Gabriel Rome, tall, dark and sexy, and dedicated to the fight against any supernatural evil that crosses his path. He is a descendant of Dr. Igor Romanoff, was raised by monks, and is an authority on how to kill all things paranormal. His companion is a beautiful white wolf with crystal blue eyes who has the ability to communicate with him telepathically. The wolf is actually his wife, Grace, cursed by the Dark Witch Media five years earlier, to live in the body of a wolf. The only way to break the curse is to find Media and kill her; otherwise Gabriel and Grace are destined to spend their lives as human and wolf, soul mates unable to be together. Finally, they know where to find Media, but what surprises await them in her lair?
From the first page the author manages to pull us into the story and engage our interest with Gabriel and Grace’s relationship. Even as a wolf, Grace maintains a certain sense of humor and you can feel the love she and Gabriel still have for each other. We are given the back-story of all the major players, which is surprising in such a short novella. There are a couple of somewhat graphic love scenes, and yet they are written in a way that almost makes them seem PG, which was pleasantly surprising and had me asking myself “hmmm, how did she do that”. This novella is packed with all you could ask for and then some; humor, truly evil witches and vampires, smelly creatures and even one pretty kick rear action scene.
This is a short novella and I read it easily in an hour and half. My one complaint would be that I wish it had been longer. It would have been nice to have seen some more of Grace and Gabriel’s adventures while looking for the Dark Witch. Hopefully the second installment will be more of a full length novel. I spent the afternoon before reading the book, cleaning out my mother’s attic, and I found the book a good escape from the woes of everyday life.
There was a movie in the 80's named Ladyhawke which my son was obsessed with, making us watch it over and over; this novella reminds me of that movie. I found myself falling in love just a little with Gabriel and hoping the two would manage to break the curse, just as I did each time I watched the movie. I recommend anyone who enjoys a good love story with a twist, pick up this novella and escape for an hour or two.

Book: Blood Harvest Moon
Author: Kelly Abell
Publisher: kNight Romance Publishing
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Rated: M for mature content
Taking a shortcut home from a frat party, Derek Panthera swerves to avoid hitting a figure who suddenly appears in the middle of the dark road on which he’s traveling. This abrupt change of direction not only results in a car accident, but forever alters the path of his life, as well.
Unable to continue his homeward journey due to the accident, Derek seeks help at a secluded farmhouse. There he meets a beautiful Irish woman named Shaelyn, who incites feelings in him he’s never experienced before. Is it love at first sight, pure animal attraction or a combination of these and something much more?
Author Kelly Abell’s exciting, fast-paced novella, Blood Harvest Moon, is a fascinating tale of witches, demons, blood sacrifice, ancient curses and prophecies that captures the reader from the very first pages and never lets go. The budding romance between Derek and Shaelyn, as she helps him to discover his true nature, is literally spellbinding, and Shaelyn’s relationship with her cursed coven and, especially, her sister Layla is well-developed.
An engrossing paranormal romance about destiny, the consequences of the quest for power and the self-sacrifice necessary for true love, Blood Harvest Moon is a delightful addition to the genre. If there was any downside to the story for me, it was that its length didn’t allow for a more in-depth look at the origins of Shaelyn’s coven or the history of shifters which it was hinted Shaelyn knew about. This did not in any way take from the tale, however, and one can always hope the author will revisit these wonderful characters and share more of their interesting story in the future. Recommended!

Book: Sealed In Lies (Book 1 - In Lies series)
Author: Kelly Abell
Publisher: Soltice Publishing
Genre: Mystery Thriller
Rating: Mature over 17
Jack Weaver is an undercover operative working for the Central Intelligence Agency who stumbles upon a plot to kill an important United States political head, the President-Elect. As he delves deeper into his investigations, he begins to peel back layer upon layer of what he discovers is a conspiracy. Jack, essentially, kidnaps Caroline Walters, the abused wife of Warren Walters-the Vice President-Elect. The only thing Jack wants from Caroline is information. The relationship between Jack and Caroline becomes symbiotic. Jack needs information, and Caroline needs to escape her life.
Sealed In Lies is very well written overall. The flow of the story line is fluid with well placed dynamic peaks. The characters are so well written, that I feel like they may be real-life people. The dialogue makes me feel like I’m in the presence of the conversation, not simply reading it.
I enjoyed the complexities of Jack Weaver and Caroline Walters. They are both onions. As each layer was revealed, I fell more and more in-love with the character. Caroline Walters is a strong, intelligent woman who drew the wrong card in life. She trusted the wrong man, and as a result she lost part of herself. Jack Weaver is a seemingly cold, calculating man who gets the job done. And yet, he will protect the people he cares most about. Jack is able to help Caroline rediscover the part of herself she lost in her cruel marriage.
I did have a difficult time reading the first few chapters. While I recognize that Ms. Abell is building and uncovering each character in the beginning, the energy is a little low. I appreciate the depth of detail that Ms. Abell went to, but it is a slow beginning. Once the characters are defined, the book really picks up momentum.
Sealed In Lies is a very well written, well thought out book. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a storyline containing thrills, suspense, action, mystery and romance. Kelly Abell is an amazing author and someone to look out for!

Book: Captured In Lies (Book 2 - In Lies series)
Author: Kelly Abell
Publisher: Solstice Publishing
Genre: Mature 17 Action Thriller
Captured In Lies is book two of the “In Lies” series. We pick up with Jack and Caroline Weaver as they are returning to DC from their honeymoon in the Caribbean. As they return to their home, they find their honeymoon is truly over. Jack’s cell phone rings just as Caroline approaches the house, it’s The Emperor, Mohammed Rabin. As Jack tries to prevent Caroline from reaching the house, he is not quick enough and Caroline is caught in an explosion.
While Jack is waiting in the hospital for news about his new bride, he receives another call from The Emperor. This time he has hostage FBI Agent Lucy Chavez, Jack’s sister, strapped to a bomb. Jack knows this madman is out for revenge and he is now caught between protecting the most precious things in his life, Caroline his new wife, and his sister Lucy.
As Jack hears of Caroline’s coma, he meets Dane “Boomer” Kendrick. Officer Kendrick is beginning his investigation of the explosion. He recognizes Jack as a former military comrade. Jack must now play The Emperor’s deadly game of scavenger hunt to find his sister, knowing Jack cannot possibly be in two places at once.
Jack knows The Emperor has informants everywhere. Dane is the only one Jack can trust and enlists his help in finding his sister Lucy. The situation intensifies as Jack learns there is a second bomb in Boston, powerful enough to take out half the city and Caroline awakes without her sight. Jack goes to the President of the United States and asks for assistance in protecting Caroline so that he and Dane may track down the bomb in Boston and rescue his sister Lucy.
Feeling that Caroline is safe, Dane takes off after Lucy and Jack flies to Boston, both following clues left for them by The Emperor. When Dane first sees Lucy, her face is bruised and swollen and he has never seen a woman so strong and so beautiful; instant attraction. Their first meeting is with three minutes to detonation of the C4 bomb strapped to Lucy’s chest. Meanwhile Jack desperately tries to find the bomb in Boston. To make matters worse there is an attempt on Caroline’s life.
Will Dane rescue Lucy in time? Dismantle the bomb? Will Jack in Boston save the innocent lives of half the city? Will Caroline regain her sight and survive the attacks against her life? Will Jack finally catch The Emperor and put his terrorism to an end?
Kelly Abell’s story is action packed. As a reader who has not read the first book, Sealed In Lies, the author has done an excellent job of incorporating the major facts of book one into book two, leaving no missing pieces to the story line. Her story of Jack and Caroline is full of action and suspense, love and passion, incredible detective work and modern day terrorism. Captured In Lies is an excellent read with page turning excitement.

PRG Featured Author Interview - October 2010
is proud to present
Please introduce and tell us a little about yourself:
First of all I'd like to thank the Paranormal Romance Guild for asking me to be their featured author this month. I really like the way this group is working hard to get the word out for all of the Paranormal Authors out there. I'm Kelly Abell and I have an addiction to writing. (Hi, Kelly) No seriously, I really do. I love to write and have been writing since high school when I was the editor of our high school magazine called Sketches. I gave it up for a while and lost site of my vision until about the year 2000 when a good friend encouraged me to finsih that novel. I did and I was so excited about it I started my first published book Sealed In Lies the first book of the In Lies series by Solstice Publishing. I will be forever grateful to Melissa of Solstice Publishing for giving me my first break in 2008.
Learning about the publishing industry and learning how to write query letters and synopses was a grueling task but I have really enjoyed the journey. I was even working in the industry for a while and then decided to take a break from the business side and focus more on my writing. I write in multiple genres and I think that gives me the ability to reach diverse audiences. I enjoy that about my writing because it allows all those characters and stories that hide in my brain to come out and be seen no matter what the genre might be. I currently have 4 novels and one short story published with Solstice Publishing and my newest book, Blood Harvest Moon has just been released by kNight Romance Publishing. I have a husband and teenagers that have been very supportive of my writing. We live in Florida and enjoy all that the sunshine state has to offer. I have a wonderful dog named Snickers and she is my constant companiion in my office, patiently waiting for her walks while I finish that all important scene. I love writing and I do it for my readers. My greatest pleasure is to keep my readers up at night. LOL

What were your inspirations for writing or becoming an author?
I'm afraid this story won't rock anyone's world because it was sort of a gradual development but the final push over the cliff is kind of a cool story. I was working as a claims manager for a major insurance company and doing an evaluation on one of my employees. We were sharing things that we enjoyed doing and I mentioned that I wanted to write a novel. He was very encouraging (probably trying to suck up to the boss LOL) and we spent a great deal of time discussing our mutual talents and creativity. I told him about a book that I wanted to buy on writing a novel during the weekends. The next day he came in with a Barnes and Nobel gift card and told me to go buy that book and write that novel. I jokingly told him he would be in my first acknowledgement when I was published. Well twelve years later, here I am and Chuck, I thank you.
Tell us about your new book:
Only a few days from the Blood Harvest Moon a coven of witches must have a sacrifice in order to maintain their immortality.
A prophesy to fulfill...
Shaelyn, a beautiful Irish witch believes a prophesy that will bring her love and destiny. Little did she realize what it would cost her.
A destiny of greatness...
Derek Panthera, a sexy but mild mannered college student has no idea how an unexpected car accident will change is his life forever. It not only leads him straight to a coven of witches who need a blood sacrifice, but will enact a change in him he is totally unprepared for.
As the destiny of Shaelyn and Derek intertwine, a battle is on to save Derek's life from a treacherous and evil curse. As the attraction between the two becomes heated, it's Shaylen who brings out the animal in Derek he didn't know existed.
Blood Harvest Moon also has it's own Facebook page so be sure to press the like button and join in on the fun discussions taking place there.
Why did you write it?
I actually started this book as a short story and it was sitting on the shelf when kNight Romance Publishing asked me to write something for them. They wanted something paranormal and I scrambled to put something together when this story came to mind. I pulled it off the shelf and started working on it. I fell in love with Derek and Shaelyn and soon became embroiled in their quest to save him from his cursed fate. The more the story developed the more I fell in love with it. I had a great time writing it and it was fun to sort of venture deeper into a world where I had to blend reality with fantasy. That was a challenge but I'm very pleased with the way it turned out.
Why should people buy it?
This is a question that I find difficult to answer in a humble way, so I'm just going to tell you. You should buy it because its good! LOL Seriously though, if you like paranormal romance and want something a little different from the normal vampire and werewolf faire then this story is for you. It does involve witches and shape shifters but it has a twist that is different from the norm. There is humor built into the character's personalities that add to their depth and make the story more believable and entertaining. It also has a bit of a surprise at the end that I don't think the readers will see coming.
Where can people find your book?
Right now the book is in ebook format on many sites including Amazon, Smashwords, Coffeetime Romance. It is available for all ereaders including Apple iPad. The paperback comes out in December and will be available in all major bookstores.
Do you have any book trailers, etc.?
I do, and I would like to show my appreciation to Karen Fuller for creating this really nice trailer. <CLICK HERE> to view.
Are there any events (book signings, speaking engagements, coming up in the near future you will be involved in?
My marketing director and I are in the process of putting together the schedule now and around the first of the year you will see a great deal of activity, so stay tuned to my website. I invite all who read this to come and join my website www.kellyabellbooks.com to keep up on my latest events, contests, newsletter, and book releases. I love to hear from my readers so please stop by.
