Zach Anderson is a desperate man. He needs to find a killer before the man destroys Zach's entire family. He also must convince one Lily Sutter, the woman he loves, that she loves him and wants to marry him.

Neither task is an easy one.

Lily Sutter is a sinner. Just ask anyone in Deadwood. She had a baby out of wedlock and she doesn't deny it. She was seduced and left by one man; she refuses to be taken in by another. The fact that Zach makes her blood boil and her heart race, just by being near, has nothing to do with anything.

It is 1877. Once again, we are back in Deadwood in the Dakota Territory. We join up with the Anderson brothers and their families, Liam and his wife, Jake and his wife Becky and their young daughter Jenny, and Zach who is still off trying to find Richard Jordan the man who killed Jake’s fiancé. Jordan is a constant danger to the Andersons, since his sole purpose is to kill them for destroying his life.

Zach was gone for weeks. When he finally cornered Jordan in an alley, Zach came out hurt. Now Jordan is hiding somewhere in Deadwood and it is imperative that he be found. Now that Zach is back, he wants to rent a room from Lily Sutter who owns the mercantile. He has been in love with Lily for a long time, but she refuses his advances. She was burned once before by a man she believed she loved and who loved her, but when she told him she was pregnant he left her. Now she refuses to give her heart to another man.

Zach loves Lily and loves her daughter, Gemma. He is going to do whatever it takes to convince Lily that she loves him. Renting a room from Lily and helping her out in the mercantile gives him the excuse he needs to be with her and to protect her from Jordan. Zach thought his only worry was Jordan until Lily’s ex-fiancé and Gemma’s father shows up. He has managed to lose everything he had; Lily is his ticket back. When Lily fears Beau will find out about his daughter and want to take her, she realizes the only thing she can do is…not going to reveal what it is.

The brothers all have to come together to find the killer who is threatening all their lives. The problem is Jordan has become very good at hiding his identity, shaving his hair, wearing ragged clothes or using theatrical costumes. Can Jake, Zach and Liam find him before he finds them? Will Lily every admit that she loves Zach? Can Zach find the love his brothers have?

I loved this book as much as the other two in the series. This is a simple book about love, romance, courage, secrets, and betrayals. I read the book in one day because I just couldn’t wait to find out what happens and what happens is very satisfying.
