August Featured Author – T.M Sulsona

Please tell us a little bit about yourself

I live in New Jersey with my husband, two adult children (who seem to refuse to leave home…) and my two dogs. During the day I manage a medium-sized insurance brokerage firm and at night, when not writing, I am an avid gamer – World of Warcraft is my current crack. I love to make stained glass projects, knit, make homemade soap, oil paint and travel.

What were your inspirations for writing or becoming an author?

When I was younger, I would have vivid dreams – and still do. I used to put them to paper so I wouldn’t forget them, writing them down when I woke in the morning. I started sharing them when I was in high school, and was constantly told I should make them into full-blown stories. With the boom of paranormal books, I finally decided to give it a shot. My very first story was started when I was pregnant with my first child, and ended up being pushed to the back burner when I hit a wall at 200pp. (I have recently begun to work on that story again as the Muse has finally shown me the way and should be book four to come out.) Another story jumped right into the void and that became my first published novel – “The Sagittary.” My inspirations are JR Ward, Nalini Singh and Lara Adrian, to name a few. There are so many more.

Tell us about your Book(s)/Series(s).

My books are stand-alone stories (for now) and I release them under the collective heading of “Stories from the Mist.” I chose this heading because all my stories come from or are based on dreams that I have had, and like dreams, fade into the mist as you wake. There are cross-over characters that do show up in the other stories, but you wouldn’t know that unless you read them all. They are complete with a start and an end. While I love series books, I grew up reading ‘whole stories’ and wanted to write my stories in that vein. There’s nothing better than that nice “ahhhh” moment you get when you finish a book and you get the HEA at the end.

My stories deal with alpha-beasties (as I call them) and are outside the usual vampire/werewolves genre. Not that I don’t like those types of characters because I absolutely do (*gives nod to JR Ward’s Blackdagger Brotherhood and Lara Adrian’s Breed*). But I wanted to give the readers something different, something out of the ordinary. My stories still have the Alpha male and his fated female trait, along with the sexual /erotic thread that runs through all Paranormal Romance/Fantasy books. I wanted to be outside the ‘usual’ box, and I feel like I’ve accomplished that with my books that are currently out, which are three: “The Sagittary,” “The Colubrii: Awakening,” and my recent release, “The Avalar: Daughter of the Air.”

Why did you write it?

As I mentioned, my circle of friends and family sort of pushed me to put these down on paper; that and I wanted to preserve my stories in a form that could be passed down (even if no one reads them LOL!) But seriously, I just wanted to put something out there that was different.

Why should people buy it?

I think if people would like to read stories with a different spin on them, they should give it a shot. If they are tired of having to buy yet another book in a series to continue the story arc, or to finally get that “Ahhh” moment, then give it a shot. They are long, I’ll forewarn that, but I feel they are complete and full and rich in detail. And this comes from being an Indy and not having someone chop the story to pieces J But I think they move along nicely.

Where can readers find your book(s)?

My books are available on Amazon in paperback and kindle; the first two are available through Barnes & Noble for NOOK as well. I haven’t gotten around to uploading “The Avalar” yet for NOOK. My website also offers hardback copies as well atwww.storiesfromthemist.com

Do you have any book trailers, etc.?

I have a few up on Goodreads for “The Colubrii” and “The Avalar.” Never thought to make one for “The Sagittary” at the time…as I didn’t even know they existed..LOL

What awards/accolades have you achieved?

The Colubrii: Awakening” received the PRG’s 2012 Reviewer’s Choice Award – Honorable Mention; “The Avalar: Daught of the Air” was nominated in two categories for the PRG’s 2016 Reviewer’s Choice awards. We didn’t win but it was still an honor to be nominated and something I’m proud of. All three books have received 5-star ratings on Amazon and have received good reviews from other book review sites. I believe I have them posted on my Facebook Page at Stories from the Mist.
