Stefan Talltree is a Native American vampire and an ex-assassin for the Vampire Council. Now Stefan makes his home in Whitefish Montana where he is a D.J. at a radio station. Thanks to an enchantment by his Shaman grandfather Stefan has the ability to walk in the sun without any damage but he still prefers the night. One night while prowling the trails of Glacier National Park he met Brandy Shaughnessy a Park Ranger and from that night on his life would never be the same.

It was an instant attraction between Stefan and Brandy but Stefan was hurt by a woman he once thought he loved, a woman who betrayed him when she turned him into a vampire like she was. Now although he feels a need to be near Brandy he is unwilling to give in to his feelings and fall in love again. Brandy on the other hand is determined to get Stefan to let go and accept her because she knows that fate brought them together.

Brandy is not human and knows what Stefan is but she mates for life and will not bind herself to a man unless he is committed to the relationship. The act of lovemaking is all it would take for her and Stefan to seal the bond something he is not willing to accept. A huge fight between Stefan and Brandy sends her away for months. She went to her sister Hannah and her new husband Tristian who we met in book two. When she finally returns Stefan faces the fact that he can’t picture a life without her.

Tristian and Stefan have met before and Stefan realizes that he has to reveal all his secrets to Brandy before Tristian does it for him. Tristian is a powerful Warlock and demon slayer and he also has secrets that he has to reveal. Demons are being released and his family is in danger but now Stefan and Brandy are part of the problem and hopefully the solution. But it will all play out in Ireland and that is where the demon situation will be solved or not.

This book is filled with secrets, romance, warlocks, shifters, vampires, fairies and demons. We are reunited with the characters from both book one and book two and it is always fun to catch up with previous characters to find out what is going on with them. What Brandy is I won’t reveal because it is something you should find out for yourself. I will say that I loved this book and can’t wait for more.

Strait Laced is a stand- alone contemporary romance by Kate Aaron. My first introduction to finding this author was her Free Men Trilogy which I loved. This a contemporary romance gave me the view that she can write everything; which I note from Amazon she does!

Not a topic that hasn’t been done, of opposites attracting, Ms Aaron does a fine job of making this book light and fun as two young men, from two very different worlds, find more in common than not!

Philip Lomax is in the business world, grooming himself to make his family, his Father, proud, and to date in his mind….never quite attaining it.

Meeting Ben a male dancer at a club one night, the attraction sparks and Philip’s one night stand becomes something he finds comfort in, besides the sex is great. Thinking a few more meetings won’t hurt, Philip becomes attached to this free spirit, the spirit he would love to be.

The flow of watching Philip unwind, the story of why he is how he is, is so worth the read, while our Ben grows to understand acceptance is a two way street, and he deserves all in life as well as Philip.

Ms. Aaron this story was again a 5 star read for me…Will checkout some of your other books as soon as I have a chance.

Zander and Alexa have completed their quests, but now face the formidable tasks of preparing for an Odwan attack. Zander is now seventeen years old. Rather than celebrating, he is feeling overwhelmed that he has agreed to train the tribe members in combat. How is he going to prepare everyone for an attack with such little time? He finds comfort in Greydon and Zephyr, his two best friends. Zander can see the deepest secrets of others, while Zephyr can tell if someone is lying, as long as they share no blood relation. Zander’s twin sister, Alexa, seeks to help with her magic, yet her help is not wanted while she is a mere apprentice fortune teller, her magic causes too much trouble. Alexa’s goal is to bring peace from dispersing the lands of the elders to those who are without.

As twins Zander and Alexa team with others their age, they are faced with many challenges. As they have now completed their quests, they hold much more responsibility. When he seeks help most, Moria once again speaks to Zander. She tells him that rather than working alone, he needs to find a way to unite the now distant tribes. Alexa, Zander, Zephyr, and their friends unite to complete their goal, knowing that it will be no easy task and lives could be lost. Through their journey, they each discover the true power of working together, they are stronger together. Zander has to show the tribes that he is a powerful leader and will lead them to victory. Alexa must learn to properly yield her magic. Zephyr puts his quest on hold and begs to be able to aid them in their fight. They not only face challenges as a tribe, but ones within themselves, discovering who they truly are.

This is going to be a long and challenging task. Will they be able to untie the tribes? What sacrifices need to be made to defeat their enemy? Can each rise to their full potential?

This was an action-packed tale that enforces the idea that we are stronger when we work together rather than working separately. Although young, these are mere teenagers, they are courageous and face what danger comes their way to protect their tribe. The characters are easy to relate to, making them more enjoyable. This book would appeal to anyone who enjoys a fast-paced novel, old or young. This tale teaches a lesson that is important for us all to learn.

And so is the reason why he can never, ever be with Alex Barrow. Even if Alex is everything he’s always fantasized about. Even if maybe, just maybe, Corbin is Alex’s fantasy too.

***This Book Chosen by Riptide Publishing for 20 per cent of sales going to The Russian GBLTQ Network

Roan Parrish has written a captivating story, one with such loving tenderness, I almost whisper my feelings. This author just epitomizes how well a story can be told! I am amazed at every book I have read of hers, as my feelings of wonder are brought to the surface.

Alex moves back home after a one- two punch…Break-up of relationship and losing his job. Rather than dwell on the negative, he takes over his parent’s coffee shop, slowly remaking it and himself in the process.

Meeting Corbin, now to describe Corbin……I think of him a whimsical, introverted, shy.
magical….brought up in a house in the woods by aunts who taught him the way of nature, magic and aloneness. He was always mocked by the towns folk until he walked into And Son coffee shop and met Alex.

Instead of a Christmas Story we were treated to a Chanukah story, smelling the wonderful spiced treats of pumpkin and spice and two men merging their love for each other slowly growing thru trust, baking and emerging feelings. Since we celebrate this holiday, I was charmed as to the research that was put into the telling.

The naïve young Corbin gives himself to trust in the strength of Alex, his goodness, his convictions. This is a magical holiday story.

If you don’t read anything else this year, The Remaking Of Corbin Wales is a Must ! I had to re -read it, and still feel the magic. Roan your stories give me goose bumps, they give me hope, they are the best.

Book blurb:

Stefan is a Native American vampire, former assassin for the Vampire Council. In a twist of fate, he now DJ’s the midnight shift for a small radio station in Whitefish, Montana, on the edge of Glacier National Park where his secret is safe until…

Born in Ireland, Brandy now works as a park ranger and trail guide in the park. During a full moon, Stefan and Brandy’s paths cross in a near physical collision on a trail. Their attraction is immediate and undeniable, almost as if fate demanded it.

Their union was foretold long ago in Irish folk tales where vampires and gryphons, warlocks and demons, witches and faeries must work together for the good of man and magic kind. Is a trip to Ireland the key to unravelling secrets and returning the magic? And even more importantly, will their love survive the trip?

Perched on a boulder, hidden behind scraggly branches of scrub oak, Stefan sniffed the air appreciatively. In Glacier National Park, a few yards off the popular Avalanche Lake hiking trail, he watched and waited as the last stragglers made their way down the trail.

The dusky purple sky faded—his favorite time of day, when the deserted trails were his except for an occasional wolf, bear, or bat. His nightly routine of running the trails around Going-to-the-Sun Road at top speed exhausted his body and reduced his bloodlust. This enhanced his ability to work among humans with little discomfort for him or danger to them.

The blood he’d appropriated from St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena sated his thirst for now. But the supply was dwindling, and finding a new source was at the top of his to-do list. Was leaving the Vampire Council my best option? The blood supply was always fresh, but my duties sucked. Playing politics wasn’t his strong suit, but orders to terminate the loser went against even his moral compass.

Jumping down from the boulder, he landed silently on the balls of his feet and took off at a dead run, too fast for the human eye to detect. Tonight, his run covered several trails as the full moon rose over the mountain tops. Croaking frogs settled at the edge of a pristine mountain lake while an owl screeched overhead, winging its way through the night sky. This tranquil existence was very different from his previous life. Nevertheless, the premonitions that kept him alive as an assassin made him feel that things were about to change.

It was nearly midnight when he cut across the Sun Road to another trailhead, so intent on his goal that he nearly collided with an attractive young woman. He skidded to a stop, spraying gravel, rocks, and small twigs down the road in front of him. A pinecone dislodged and bounced along the road past her. Tall and slender, she had miles of fiery-red hair that hung down her back in a cascade of curls. Intense emerald eyes stared back at him as he attempted to regain his composure, not to mention balance. What the hell was she doing here at this time of night?

“Whoa.” She stepped lightly to the side to avoid the flying debris. “You really should watch where you’re going, especially at that speed.” Her voice scolded, but the smile on her lips teased. “Someone could get hurt.”

Pretending to pant, he shrugged, holding his palms up in surrender. “Just trying to get my run in before work. Stefan Talltree, at your service.” He stepped closer, leaned over in an exaggerated bow, and caught her hand, brushing his lips over the palm and wrist, inhaling her sweet scent. AB negative with a pulse of adrenaline. Perfect. Her pulse beat a tattoo against his lips. He backed away.

Her heart thundered as she drew her hand from his grasp. “The name’s Brandy. Pleased to meet you, Stefan.” Her smile reached up into her bright eyes as they swept over him with an appreciative glance, an experience he enjoyed.

Her voice had a hint of Irish lilt to it. He liked that too.

“Where do you work that requires you to report in at—” She glanced at her watch. “—midnight?”

Nostrils flaring, he paused. Blood? Not hers. The sound of Brandy’s voice brought his attention back to her and the situation at hand. “Oh, shit, I’ve gotta go!” He sprinted off, leaving her standing alone.

As he started down the trail, the tree branches swayed in the silvery moonlight, casting eerie shadows across the trail’s edge. The breeze brought with it the coppery scent of fresh blood mixed with sulfur. He turned for one last look at her as she wrinkled her nose before silently creeping into the wind, tracking the source of the stench.
