Plenty of action-adventure in this romantic-suspense tale. Photographer Kayli Heddon is given the biggest assignment of her career—a photo essay on the Everglades Restoration—and a special airboat safari is arranged, so Kayli can get her pictures. What she doesn't count on is being stranded alone in the Everglades with her handsome and unpredictable airboat guide. Kayli is forced to learn some tough lessons. Trust means everything in the dangerous River of Grass, and a skilled partner makes all the difference in your survival.

Skye Landers takes the airboat safari gig as a favor to his cousin who is called out of town. Skye doesn't expect the governor's photographer to catch his eye, but Kayli Heddon is unlike any woman he has ever met. He knows he should keep his distance, but common sense flies out the window whenever she gets near.

Unfortunately, Kayli thinks honesty is the most important thing in a relationship—any relationship—and Skye Landers is a fraud. When secrets surface from his past, Kayli and Skye are soon on the run from more than just alligators.

When Kayli Heddon is sent to the Everglades for a photo essay on Everglades Restoration she has no idea how that assignment will change her life. It is the biggest assignment of her career but it will be the biggest change in her personal life as well.

She will be travelling by airboat along with men from the Everglades Water District but there was also an unwelcomed guest in the form of Bradley Jameson, Governor Drakes Deputy Chief of Staff who she dated twice which was two times too many. Then there was the grumpy, handsome guide, Skye Landers who took this assignment for his cousin Jimmy and one look at who he would be guiding made him think twice about it.

Skye is half Seminole Indian and his first impression of Kayli was she is a rich entitled girl, her first impression was she was gorgeous and less than happy to be there. When Brad showed up telling everyone she was his girlfriend she let it go so that she wouldn’t have to deal with Skye while he drove her around. Both of them taking digs at each other and at the same time feeling an unusual bond and both hiding secrets.

Skye finds himself falling fast and hard for Kayli but since she is with someone he refuses to push it too far. One kiss and Kayli is just as stuck on Skye as he is on her and in spite of the fact that he doesn’t push for more because of Brad she doesn’t reveal the truth. Skye has a secret about who he really is and knows that Kayli believes in trust above everything else so even if he tried to win her over she would just hate him in the end.

The trip to the Everglades is filled with danger, alligators, giant spiders, snakes and on this trip Colombian drug dealers. A fight for their lives leads both Kayli and Skye to realize how much they care for each other but stubbornness keeps them from moving forward. What happens with them I will not reveal but I will say that the author did an amazing job of bringing the Everglades to life so much so that after reading about the danger it holds the beauty would not be enough for me to ever want to visit.

Suspense, secrets, betrayals, lies and romance I can’t think of anything I could want more in a book.
