Thirty-seven year old Charlene (Charlie) Walker has left Seattle where she left her ex-boyfriend Rebel, a man she learned dealt in human trafficking, she didn’t leave without notifying the police. She went to stay with her brother Mad Dog who claims to be haunted nightly by a ghost. The ghost in question is Rufus, Azalea’s brother. If you recall from the first three books Azalea owns the haunted teahouse that hosts a nightly game of poker for her brother and fellow ghosts.
The first attempt at stopping Rufus was to boycott the teahouse with posters claiming “Ghosts are Evil”. Unfortunately all she succeeded in doing was attract more business rather than ruin business. Her next attempt was to try to seduce Rufus and when she met him she was shocked by their instant attraction. It was Mad Dog who killed Rufus when Rufus pulled an ace from his sleeve. In spite of the bullet in the middle of Rufus’ head he rings all her bells.
Charlie is not an innocent she herself was involved in a murder although the courts would definitely call it self-defense it was her brother she called not the police. Charlie has to somehow help her brother and stay hidden from Rebel who no doubt wants her dead.
This is a fun series, poker playing ghosts and the women they meet and have no hope of being with. I stand corrected there is always hope and you will have to read the books to find out if a ghost and human have a chance at love.
