Shifter romance

Working as a psychiatrist was always Alice's dream... until fate made her work as an official shrink for immortal creatures. And as it couldn't happen otherwise, her life changed drastically when she met patient 997, a werewolf shifter, who drives her crazy in every session.
The rules that govern her life now are very simple...
1. Never fall in love with any of your patients.
2. Do not allow anyone to touch you during the sessions.
3. Don't tell anyone about the existence of immortal races.
Unfortunately she has broken two of these three rules and now has to face the consequences. Can she get rid of the big bad wolf or..., or will she allow him to devour her completely?

Each book in the SoulMate series can be read independently and in any order you wish, since each novel is a story with a closed ending.

Many novellas have a concise plot with only a brief glimpse into the lives of the main characters. This novella managed to build a bit of backstory in very few words. I appreciate that Alice is a psychiatrist with a resolve to help her patient despite his reticence. This story is a beauty and the beast style fantasy, so I am inclined to overlook Alice’s questionable interactions with her patient for the sake of the fantasy. Alice’s patient, Bruce, is cast in the role of the beast/werewolf in this story, and he plays his part of the alpha wolf as expected.

This story has potential, but it would benefit from some polish to the translation, proofreading, and editing. Sometimes a setting can evolve from the word choice and dialogue that reflect a character’s environment, but the irregular word choices and sentence structure resulting from a Spanish to English translation made it difficult to visualize the setting and environment.

This story was a fast paced, page turning, beauty and the beast style fantasy. The cover was visually engaging and a good representation of the book. The cast of side characters introduced was prepossessing enough that I am interested in future volumes of the series. I recommend this book if you are interested in a quick, beauty and the beast style, romantic fantasy that is translated from Spanish.
