Thirty-five year old Cade Mairston is an Anthropologist in London. He thought his life was average until the night he Quinn Fairmont. On his way through Hampstead Heath’s woods, he finds himself face to face with Quinn and their lust meter goes straight through the roof. Each man finds himself with a hunger for the other that is beyond explanation, so Cade just runs as fast as he can.
Quinn is a Warlock; he realizes immediately that Cade is more than just an ordinary man. He is Fey. Quinn knows he must find a way to meet up with Cade and introduce him to what he is, a Water Sprite. Quinn comes from a long line of powerful Warlocks. At the age of seven, he was joined by his alter ego, Taliesin. Although they are in each other’s heads, they exist in their own time. A Withinner and a very powerful sorcerer from the sixteenth century, Talesin only appears in his physical form when Quinn summons him and they switch places. Quinn is also the Master of the Warlock Consortium, a position of power and responsibility over all warlocks.
Quinn explains to Cade what he is and introduces him to the world of warlocks, witches, and Withinners. Cade’s blood is like an aphrodisiac, but the two men soon realize that their need for each other goes beyond that. Now Cade is part of a world he knew nothing about, a world full of danger. He is in love with a man full of secrets. Someone is out killing warlocks, and they seem to have discovered a new way to incapacitate them. In addition, someone from Quinn’s past is determined to kill everyone Quinn loves putting Cade in real danger.
Now Quinn faces not only those two problems, but also the problem of other warlocks who want to take Taliesin as their own. His only concern is he could lose the one man who means everything to him if he cannot find who is after him. He is up against his past and the Witch Hunters. Can he keep Cade safe? Is he strong enough to destroy his enemies?
This was a unique story, but at the heart of it is the deep love between Cade and Quinn. It is filled with secrets, lies, betrayals, and very explicit M/M sex. I read the book in one day because I could not put it down. Many questions were answered, but some remain especially regarding Cade. Can he find answers to what powers he has? Why did no one in his family ever mention he was a Water Sprite? I cannot wait for the next book to find out more about Cade’s history.
