Let me preface this review by stating that I have not read book 1 in this series. The author did a wonderful job for those of us that do not get a chance to read series books in order. The only thing I felt lacking was a better explanation of the type of supernatural character the book deals with. I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that the author didn’t go with the ordinary paranormal being. I feel certain, though, that was probably dealt with in the first book. I will tell you, the book ends in a cliffhanger but the storyline and characters in Forever at Midnight came to a conclusion so the reader doesn’t feel cheated in any way. As a matter of fact, the ending gives you something to look forward to in the following book.
This book was a fast paced read and lots of fun. I enjoyed how the storyline and characters came together. The fight scenes were intense and so was the loving. This book was right up my alley. The only criticisms I have are at points I was taken aback by the lead male’s thoughts regarding the circumstances the woman he’s pined for all of these years had to survive. There was a bit of redundancy in areas. But when you’ve got such a great plot and characters to lose yourself into, these are small criticisms that any reader can overlook.
Kudos to Ms. Cate! I recommend this book to all of those that enjoy a good read about alpha males and the women they love.
