That is not something Lark believes in so with her only companion, Preston, her cat she takes off for her new adventure.

When she arrives, someone is looking out the upstairs window–but when she checks there is no one there. In addition to the strange appearance , her cat refuses to get out of the crate and won’t walk around leaving her to believe there is more to the rumors then meet the eye.

When Preston becomes ill in the middle of the night, she is able to locate a vet who agrees to meet her at his clinic and care for the sick cat. Immediately there is a spark between the two of them, a spark she has no intention of allowing to grow.

Dr. Jesse Holt came home to run his father’s vet clinic after his last tour of Afghanistan. When his dad died, he was determined to keep his father’s legacy alive. He is drawn to the beautiful woman with the sick cat. She insists on sleeping on the couch in his waiting room until office hours, neither knowing that she is his new neighbor.

When Lark begins to hear moans and noises, pictures fall off the wall, and doors that she closed suddenly open, she runs to Jesse for help. There is no doubt a ghost is haunting her home. This ghost who is trying to tell her something. Little by little, with help from Jesse and his mom they begin to put everything together. Unfortunately, it doesn’t stop Lark from nearly dying when she runs to the river and almost drowns. Will it take her death to put a stop to what is going on?

What happens between Jesse and Lark, as well as who the ghost is and why the ghost is haunting the house all come to a very satisfying conclusion. If ghost stories filled with romance are your thing, then this book will definitely hit the mark.
