Dead women tell no tales.

Former cat burglar Rook Stevens stole many a priceless thing in the past, but he’s never been accused of taking a life—until now. It was one thing to find a former associate inside Potter’s Field, his pop culture memorabilia shop, but quite another to stumble across her dead body.

Detective Dante Montoya thought he’d never see Rook Stevens again—not after his former partner falsified evidence to entrap the jewelry thief and Stevens walked off scot-free. So when he tackled a fleeing murder suspect, Dante was shocked to discover the blood-covered man was none other than the thief he’d fought to put in prison and who still makes his blood sing.

Rook is determined to shake loose the murder charge against him, even if it means putting distance between him and the rugged Cuban-Mexican detective who brought him down. If one dead con artist wasn’t bad enough, others soon follow, and as the bodies pile up around Rook’s feet, he's forced to reach out to the last man he’d expect to believe in his innocence—and the only man who’s ever gotten under Rook’s skin.

Murder and Mayhem is such an appropriate name for this book, it really describes it totally. I just learned something recently about Rhys Ford. She takes her titles seriously !!! Now I see why.

Detective Dante Montoya never thought he would ever see con artist Rook Stevens again. It had been years since he fought his feelings for the young man, as he put the heat aside. Just when you think you’re scot free,  Rook and Dante are drawn together as  bodies and more bodies start piling up, with Rook at the center.

Rook has always run a con, a cat burglar extraordinaire, who has finally gone legit.  He now owns a Pop Culture shop. This is where we find him, in the dark,  discovering a dead body, a body of one of his employees at the shop. The alarm is blaring and the police come in, finding Rook bloody, covered with the dead woman’s blood.  Dante has to decide, what to do after chasing the unknown assailant down a dark alley that he thinks is the murderer. After realizing it is Rook who he has tackled, he must decide what he wants more,  to put Rook in jail or in his bed.

When Rhys Ford tells a story all bets are off….Dante and Rook are magic, and have been since all those years ago when they first met;  it just gets better and better as they discover each other again while the body count rises and the mystery takes us on a wonderful trip through the underworld of running a con.

I loved this sexy, sexy relationship growing, I loved the trust growing between Rook and Dante, and I love the steps that this author takes the reader on  to solve this mystery with all the winding twists and turns….Wow and the surprises. As always Rhys you are a great story teller !!!! This book is worthy of the 5*****Stars.
