Marissa Reynolds is a Librarian that has tried very hard to keep her association with Julio DeGrazzi the leader of the DeGrazzi mob, and her uncle from becoming public knowledge. She changed her name but her past won’t stay in the past. After leaving work she finds herself in a hotel room with no idea how she got there. Her purse and phone are both missing and the next thing she knows a man enters the room believing she is a hooker.

Assistant District Attorney Scott Bannister went against proper procedure when he agreed to meet with an informer from the DeGrazzi mob but he found a woman barely conscious and the man he was to meet a no show. Before he could get them out of the hotel the police arrived followed by the media. As an ADA he was put in a very compromising position but in spite of the name change he recognized Marissa right away and saw an opportunity to use her. His parents met their death when they found themselves between two warring gangs and Marissa’s uncle was one of them now he has a reason to visit his enemy and Marissa is his way in.

Things go from bad to worse when a body is found with Marissa’s purse and phone near the body. Blood is found under her nails and on her hands and she has no memory of anything that happened. Scott manages to get Marissa out of jail and arranges for them to visit her uncle who he is counting on helping them and giving Scott the chance of proving his guilt in his parent’s death. Marissa hasn’t spoken to her uncle in five years, a secret she has kept and is known only to her uncle.

It doesn’t take long before Scott and Marissa have arrest warrants out on them and besides the police there is someone else after them. The only hope for them is find the real killers and find out who set them up. Scott and Marissa give in to their feelings for each other even though they know that they are keeping secrets from each other. Throughout everything she has no idea that Scott has been using her for his own purposes to finally arrest the men responsible for his parent’s death.

I picked up this book and did not put it down until I finished it. The characters were wonderful, there is suspense, secrets, surprises and betrayal and of course romance. There wasn’t a dull moment in this book and every time I thought I knew who did it another suspect came to light. If you love romantic suspense, then don’t miss this one you won’t be sorry.
