Sasha Riversong grew up on the Lakota reservation and heard stories at her grandfather’s lap, stories that she believed were make-believe, but would soon discover were real.

Sasha works as a waitress and goes to school. One night the restaurant is robbed and Sasha is shot. When she awakens, she is in a strange place being held by a gorgeous man named Anghellan. Anghellan is Sasha’s Guardian Angel. He broke all the rules when he took her soul, thereby interfering in her life. He couldn’t see her die and now until they hear what is going to happen because of his interference he and Sasha spend time together. The result is that they both have fallen in love.

Sasha is lying in a hospital bed in a coma. When she is returned to her body, she will not remember Anghellan or her time with him and he will remain behind. Sasha is pure and also the Heir of the Gate, and wanted by the Fallen. By corrupting her, they will ensure their survival. Fenrir Lukasen and her parents are at her bedside when she awakens. She has been in a coma for four months. During that time, he has inserted himself into her parent’s lives making them believe that he is her fiancé.

Sasha recognizes Fen, but can remember nothing of their time together. She has no idea that Fen is a Fallen. It is his job to seduce her, but she is not easily seduced. When her grandfather dies, Sasha returns to the reservation. There Fen reveals who he really is to her and her family. It seems that Sasha was able to do what the gods couldn’t. She changed him and brought him back into the light. His love for her is very strong, and his determination to protect her from evil is just as strong.

Anghellan is in the background trusting Fen to look after the woman he loves. Fenrir is considered the son of Loki. He seduced a young girl named Dora. Dora’s daughter’s soul resides behind the gate. If her daughter, Hope, is released the Fallen will cease to exist. Only Sasha can close the gate permanently.

I found the book to be very slow moving due to the fact that there were so many characters and so many different scenarios. There were some very interesting portions of the book and Sasha was a wonderful character. There were surprises and the second half of the book was more interesting than the first half so overall the book was okay.
