You'd think the werewolves would be the worst thing about the Night Shift; you'd be wrong.

All Officer Kit Marlow wanted was a cup of coffee and some downtime before his next night shift. Instead, he got a naked man in the elevator and an unaccounted-for dead girl in the morgue. He's going to need to deal with both before he can head for his bed.

Or anyone else's. Although not much chance of that.

Reluctantly partnered with the acerbic security consultant Cade Deacon—last seen naked in the elevator—Marlow delves into the dead girl's life. Between them, they uncover a new crime scene with the whiff of old corruption. A corruption that, five years ago, nearly took Marlow's life and ended his career.

Finding out who killed the dead girl on the slab might only be the start of this investigation. Oh, and it's the second night of the full moon. So 80% of the city, including Cade, will turn into werewolves in the middle of the case.

TA Moore has such a gift for detective/police mysteries. Combined with truly impressive skills in creating amazing paranormal worlds and you have Shift Work. This is such a great book and the fact that it is a series, makes my reader heart so very happy. The characters are so well written. Kit Marlow is such a snarky bit of fabulousness. Throwing him together with Cade Deacon was just romantic tension genius. These two have amazing chemistry.

The world building was so intriguing and unique. The shifter world in this book was such a fun take and added to the drama in great ways. And again, Moore’s skill in creating convoluted and interesting mysteries is such a gift. I don’t know if the future book will continue to follow Kit and Cade or if new couples will show up, but I am here for whatever comes next in the Night Shift world.

I have NEVER given a 100 page prequel review a 5 star rating… until today! Damn Ms. Moore, it’s like you got me at hello. Or was it naked in the elevator? Either way the hook was set and as I read, I was all yours.

The uncanny knack you have of setting a scene is spectacular. The way you give the reader all the information through the POV of each character is even better. You even see the smirk, the eye roll as you let us get to know each of these men. Kit Marlowe has just come off a night shift working a Full Moon shift; entering the elevator to clock out. Cade Deacon is a wolf who is a Security Consultant for the very rich wolf enclave; enters his life and the elevator naked.

They are now paired up, to their surprise, when a young woman is found dead and people want to know why and on whose watch did it happen. Cade is rich, spoiled, and mouthy. Kit seems quiet and intense. So now we watch the fire grow between them sexually as they find out who wears the pants in this growing relationship.

I was just getting settled in when I turned the page, ending in the proverbially See you next week same time same station cliffhanger. I should make it 3 stars. But no, I can’t. You had me at hello.
