Follow the burgeoning love of two teens during the worst year of their lives. Irish-born Declan David de Quirke II is the son of two ambassadors, one Irish and one American. He is ‘out’ to his parents but to no one else. French-born Jean Isidore de Sauveterre is also the son of two ambassadors, one Catalan and one Parisian. His four half brothers have been told to cure him of his homosexuality. Both teens have lost a parent in a London car bombing.

Declan and Isidore meet at the beginning of their senior year at a private academy in the United States. Declan is immediately smitten with Isidore and becomes his knight in shining armor. Isidore wants to keep what is left of his sanity and needs Declan’s love to do it. One is beaten, one is drugged, one is nearly raped, one has been raped. They are harassed by professors and police, and have fights at school, but none of it compares to running for their lives. When the headmaster’s popular son attempts suicide and someone tries to assassinate Declan’s mother, they are thrown headlong into chaos, betrayal, conspiracy, allegations of sexual coercion, even murder. And one of them carries a secret that may get them killed.

I am so happy to review this book by a wonderful NEW AUTHOR to me….what a find!! You meet people in the most interesting places, but Cody Kennedy was introduced to me through my book guild. He was an author member that I hadn’t yet read???? Who wudda thunk it? I sometimes ask an author “what books they was most proud of “ and Mr. Kennedy offered me two titles…. this was the first one of the two he mentioned immediately.

Cody Kennedy a dedicated person in the LGBTQ Community, working diligently for abused and trafficked youth. So as a reader having this information, I had many feelings while reading this story totally taken and tortured by his story.

How can you review a book about abuse? Yet Isidore gives us hope that what the horrible things that humans can do to another the victim can find a way to overcome this and find everything good they deserve in life.

We meet Declan David de Quirke II is the son of two ambassadors, one Irish and one American. He is ‘out’ to his parents but to no one else. French-born Jean Isidore de Sauveterre is also the son of two ambassadors, one Catalan and one Parisian. Both have suffered a terrible loss….each the loss of a parent…..Ironically in the same car bombing.

Declan has lost his father, Isidore his mother. Isidore is now in America in high school in America with his four step brothers.

This story is about young love, trust, mystery, healing and again what horrors humans yet family members can be capable of. A must read for all ages….

Next I am going to follow up with Mr. Kennedy’s second choice called Omorphi (Elpida Book 1) All I can say is Thank You to the author for writing something so painfully beautiful!
