This is a Christmas story and is part of the DSP Advent Calendar, but first and foremost it is a story from one of my favorite authors, Andrew Grey.

Duncan Haversmith is an astronautical engineer working on a mirror for a new-generation space telescope led by NASA. The work is being done in Germany, and that is where he will be over the Christmas holiday, alone and working. He is in a country where he can’t communicate with people, and where he has no idea where to go. All that changes when he meets Georg Van Mittelback, a Project Manager.

Georg takes Duncan under his wing, showing him around and taking him to different restaurants. It doesn’t take long before they want more and the friendship turns to love. Both men know whatever relationship they have will end shortly after the holiday, but they, like so many others, want to enjoy every second they have together. Duncan can’t leave the United States and it doesn’t appear Georg can leave Germany, but is this a case of “love conquers all?”

Although there is sex, it is not extremely explicit. It is a story of two men who have been hurt in the past and are looking for that special someone to spend their life with. It was not a long story, but it was a beautiful one.
