How can a man hope to get close to a woman who can’t stand to be touched? That’s the dilemma facing Tristan Jameson when he meets Charlotte Dixon.

Tristan is a former NYPD cop turned celebrity pastry chef and author. Bereft by the death of his fiancée two years earlier, he has no desire for a new romance, until a gorgeous redhead catches his eye at a stuffy Park Avenue Christmas party. Not only is she beautiful, the lady also snares his culinary interest with delicious homemade cookies. But when he innocently touches her, she turns pale and runs from him.

Charlotte is a Guardian of Danu charged with protecting one of seven valuable scrolls handed down through time by her ancestors. She works as a nurse-companion for a disabled girl, living in a lonely mansion on Long Island’s Gold Coast – Great Gatsby country.

Like all of the Guardians, Char possesses a unique psychic gift, in her case the empathic ability to absorb other people’s emotions, especially through touch. When Tristan brushes her arm, lingering pain over his lost love floods her senses. She tries to escape but he catches up and demands an explanation.

So begins a romance complicated by Char’s responsibility for her young charge and her sworn duty as a Guardian. Surprise guests and evil enemies threaten to destroy their one chance for happiness. Will Tristan overcome such obstacles to win his lady? Can she trust him with terrible secrets? Find the answers in Touching Charlotte.

Another wonderful addition to a wonderful series. Charlotte (Char) Dixon is a Guardian of Danu but as an empath she tries to stay as far away from people as she can. She cares for Marilee Cantrell a thirteen year old who is both crippled and brain damaged. Char’s employer is Marilee’s mother, a rich woman who tolerates her daughter considering her an embarrassment and who should be hidden away.

It is at an early Christmas party at a Park Avenue penthouse that Char meets a man who will change her life. Tristan Jameson is a distant cousin of Marilee and her mom and when he sees Charlotte he is immediately drawn to her. Tristan is a former cop who is now a pastry chef and author of several cookbooks. When he touches Char he has no idea of the pain it caused her because she is able to feel the pain he suffers over the death of his fiance two years ago.

Tristan keeps pursuing Char but she is afraid to let him in. When Charlotte’s father discovered her mother and her ability to feel what others feel when they are touched he turns into a bully so trusting a man is hard for her to do. She wants to be loved and wants to have someone to lean on but is Tristan that man? She also has the responsibility of caring for Marilee and protecting the sacred scroll entrusted to her.

It doesn’t take long before Tristan proves himself to Char but the appearance of Lara Flewellen the High Guardian of Danu, since the murder of her uncle, brings the Hellhounds to their door. Lara her bodyguard and lover Connor O’Shea have come to get Char and bring her to safety but Charlotte has to consider her new relationship with Tristan and her responsibility to Marilee.

Charlotte feels safe locked away behind the security gates of the mansion she and Marilee are staying in but the Hellhounds find them. Now Tristan and Marilee are in danger and leaving is the only option. They have to find a safe place for Marilee and Tristan accepts what Char is and is unwilling to let her go anywhere without him.

Although this series does not have to be read in order I would definitely recommend doing so since each book is amazing. There is sex, suspense and surprises. Someone is betraying Lara but who is it? I can’t wait for book five.
