I can’t believe I just got introduced to this series and I will certainly be reading these books from here on in. Although I have not read any of the previous books it made no difference because this story stood by itself.

Former Navy Seal Theo Thannehill left the military and now finds himself in a small town in the Black Hills as the sheriff, a job he loves and a town that has embraced him and loves him. There is trouble from drug runners, Theo finds a car with a dead body and a trunk full of drugs which are now locked up in his office. There is no doubt that the drug dealers want their drugs back and that puts Theo in danger which he ignores. In spite of his refusal of help his friend Hank Patterson who runs Brotherhood Protectors will not let him go without protection and he requests help from the Guardian Agency since he has no one available at the moment.

Anna Lopez is assigned to protect Theo, an assignment she accepts even though she hates small towns and jobs that may last longer than her usual short ones. Posing as a mechanic she keeps her eyes on Theo and manages to save him from being killed by a car heading right for him. Anna has to keep her reason for being in town from Theo who was adamant about not needing help. She finds ways of bumping into him; she watches his home at night and once again manages to be at the right place at the right time and saves him from someone trying to break into his house.

Both Theo and Anna fight their growing attraction to each other, he isn’t sure he can trust her and she is on assignment, and he is the client. Attempts to retrieve the drugs confiscated by Theo keep happening and Theo finally comes to the conclusion that he needs the help his friend suggested unaware that the help was already there in the guise of a beautiful mechanic he is falling for. Anna is falling for the handsome sheriff but what will happen when he discovers who she really is and why she is in town and what future is there when her home is Chicago not small-town USA.

This book is a cross-over between Brotherhood Protectors and Guardian Agency and it had everything a lover of suspense and romance could ask for, well it certainly had everything I could ask for and more. The characters were amazing even the secondary ones, the townspeople who not only care for the sheriff but are there to back him up when necessary. Anna and Theo are two people who never expected to find love and have a chance at a future but so many things stand in the way of a HEA and whether they find it or not you will have to discover on your own because this book is one you should not walk but run to get.
