Thanks for a Job Well Done!

At the Paranormal Romance Guild, something is always happening. Books are being reviewed. Giveaways, blog tours, and interviews are being coordinated. Newsletters are being formatted. But there’s something more.

We rarely speak of it. To be honest, it’s such a poorly understood event—an epic event of such mystery and awe—that when we speak of it at all, it is with hushed reverence. That thing, it is the annual Reviewer’s Choice Awards.

You laugh, except take my word for it, the behind-the-scenes activities associated with the nomination, collation and votes tabulation of the books being considered for an award is nothing short of magical. Well, maybe it’s not magical, but it’s certainly more than web design, formatting and data collection.

There is the gnashing of teeth, the pulling of hair and quite a bit of screaming. No, wait—that’s one of the books I’m reviewing…but to be honest, preparation for the Reviewer’s Choice Awards is a lengthy, incredibly detailed process.

Beginning in November and through January, Gloria (our Review Committee Chair extraordinaire) asks for nominations from the reviewers while behind-the-scenes, Melissa, Sandy and Andi are formatting spreadsheets, designing nomination and winner’s badges, wrestling with voting platforms and adding up the results, then checking them twice. It is a tireless job; one that all of us appreciate more than can be adequately stated, especially when you take into consideration each of these people have lives outside of the Paranormal Romance Guild.

Whether writers, reviewers, webmasters, retired or active PRG members, they are also busy with “day” jobs and family in addition to the voluntary positions they hold at the Paranormal Romance Guild. Today, we take this opportunity to thank them sincerely for everything they do to make the Reviewer’s Choice Awards seem so seamless.

Thank you, Melissa Brus, Andi Van, and Sandy Wolters—for everything you do.
