This is a stand alone sports romance. The focus of this book is Dalek “Taz” Tazandlakova, a minor league hockey player facing challenges both on and off the ice. Taz is an oasis of decency among what seems to be an overwhelming sea of opportunistic friends and fellow hockey players. There were times when it was painful to see him get knocked down by life over and over. His romance with Liam is the bright spot.
The resolution felt a bit rushed, with some loose ends left unresolved. The language in the book seemed a bit formal at times. There was a lack of slang and casual verbiage that drew me out of the narrative. Otherwise, the premise was well developed and I was invested in what was going to happen in their world as Taz and Liam fell for each other.
