Roy Unger is greenhorn running from his past. He’s gotten a ranch job and works hard to prove himself every day. Since leaving home in a hurry, he's come to realize that this job is the only thing standing between him and starvation. He isn't going to mess it up, no matter how much Brad might drive him to distraction.
Brad has been around the block more than once. He's a cowboy through and through, complete with a failed rodeo career and a love life that could only be described as hopeless. He’s worked hard and kept his head down. Roy makes him want more, but Brad has come to realize that what he wants isn't what he gets.
Brad knows what desperation feels like and how important it is to fit in. When he decides to help Roy get over his fear of horses, the two men spend more time together, leading Roy to share confidences about his troubled past. Listening builds trust, which shifts into so much more. But before they can have any sort of future, they need to deal with Roy’s past, which could ruin everything.

Roy Unger ran away from his home in Utah to protect his parents and desperation, lack of money, and place to stay brought him to Ky’s horse ranch. If you have been reading this series then you know all about Ky, Brodie and little Emily, if you haven’t been reading this series I highly recommend starting. Roy has been hired on as a hand cleaning the barn and keeping the horse stalls clean even though everyone on the ranch is unaware of his fear of horses.

Brad works on the ranch and once dreamed of being a rodeo star but his big chance ended with him being seriously hurt, another dream unrealized. He keeps his eye on Roy trying to get him out of his shell, he realizes that something is not right because Roy is always looking down at the ground when anyone is around and tries to keep his distance from the others. He is the first one to notice that Roy is afraid to go near the horses and he is determined to not only get him over his fear but to get him on one.

Roy fears Brad and desires him but he is afraid he will lose his job if his fear of horses becomes known. Roy begins to be comfortable around Brad and trusts him to teach him about the ranch and the animals but not enough to reveal the reason he has run from his family. I will also not reveal the reason but keeping his secret could bring danger to everyone on the ranch.

As Brad and Roy get closer Brad learns another secret that Roy has been keeping hidden from everyone including his family and a secret, he must reveal to his parents along with the fact that he is gay if he hopes to move forward in his life, a life he hopes includes Brad.

On his own for the first time Roy finally comes into his own and faces the fact that you can’t run from your problems they just come along with you and it is essential to face them and face whatever consequence may come. Roy has to return home and face his parents with the three secrets he has kept to himself one is to right a wrong one is to admit who he really is and one I am keeping to myself.

As I said before, if you have not read this series from the start, run don’t walk to get book one.
