Naturally the cops want to ask Adrien a few questions; they are none too impressed with his answers, and when a few hours later someone breaks into Adrien's shop and ransacks it, the law is inclined to think Adrien is trying to divert suspicion from himself.

Adrien knows better. Adrien knows he is next on the killer's list.

Los Angeles bookseller and aspiring mystery author Adrien English finds himself the prime suspect when his employee—an old high school buddy (and more)—is found stabbed to death in a back alley following a loud and public argument the previous evening.

Naturally the cops want to ask Adrien a few questions—and when a few hours later someone breaks into Cloak and Dagger Bookstore, the law is inclined to think Adrien is trying to divert suspicion from himself.

We in 2020 are trying to deal with the Covid Pandemic; Being safe, staying home is our mantra. Friends and family have resorted to sharing praises of all the television movies and series they are ‘binging’ on. While I have looked into a few, I have determined that I am a reader, and books have always been my best escape.

As a Review Chairperson for a book Guild I have been blessed meeting and hearing about many authors. In the last 11 yrs I have read many, many books. But, alas there are only so many hours in a day, working full time at my business and being with the Guild. There have been a few authors I have wished to read. One has been Josh Lanyon.

Josh Lanyon probably needs no introduction to some, just reading her credits is impressive. I chose this series first as a friend said it was great. So I purchased Book 1 Fatal Shadows and I have not come out of my home much all week. I started last Sunday night; today is Friday and I have done little else but read all week not being able to put the stories down. Yes, Stories I say, just finishing the sixth book, the Christmas Novella last night. Wow, is all I can say! Josh Lanyon you have won me over at Adrien with an “e” !

I must admit I am a mystery lover, reading all of Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys one summer when I broke my leg at 14 was my first book binge. So here I meet Adrien English; mystery author slash amateur sleuth, owning a mystery book shop downtown LA. These stories are all in Adriens POV and you get to hear his thoughts and fears as he struggles with having heart issues from rheumatic fever as a teen. LA Detective Jake Riordan and his partner are brought in as we have to solve our first murder.

This series is MM and the romance is the spark in the meeting of Jake and Adrien. Their relationship is a strong point through the entire series, wonderfully woven, sometimes loving, sometimes very hot, sometimes hard to read. At one point I had to set my kindle down and walk away, I was blubbering like a baby.

I highly recommend it ! This series will not disappoint….Wondering now where I go from here….Lanyon has so many others to choose.
