Guardian Witch Book Three

Friend or lover. Life or death...

Supernatural cop Ari Calin arrives at the hostile Toronto vampire court with an ultimatum from the Riverdale vampires: Sebastian, Toronto's vampire prince, must stop his unprovoked attacks—or else. Ari wasn't expecting a fight—the "or else" was typical vampire grandstanding. But even with vampire Andreas De Luca by her side for a show of strength, things get ugly fast. Toronto's vampire world is in crisis, and surrounded by enemies, Ari and Andreas find themselves under attack.

That's when Ari gets the call from the Magic Council ordering her home. Steffan, a good friend and leader of Riverdale's werewolves, has gone missing during top secret negotiations with the US government, and is believed to have been kidnapped—or killed.

Andreas can't abandon the Toronto vampires, and Ari can't leave him to face impossible odds alone. But neither can she disobey her orders from the Council, or leave her friend Steffan to be tortured and killed. Ari's loyalties pull her in two directions—the closest thing to love she's ever known on one side, and friendship and duty on the other. If she can stay alive long enough for the choice to matter...

Once again Ari, Guardian of Olde Town, witch and supernatural cop, is trying to learn all she can with the help of her lover, boyfriend, and vampire ,Andreas DeLuca, on how to fight a vampire. Although things have been quiet since the last time Andreas and Ari found themselves fighting, the Toronto Prince of Vampires Sebastian, there is no doubt peace will not last long, and it doesn’t.

Steffan, one of the Riverside werewolf leaders, has come to tell Ari and Andreas of the sudden appearance of a new pack of wolves. They have not presented themselves to Steffan and have been keeping hidden which is not a good sign. It doesn’t take long before the wolves show themselves when they attack Ari while she is alone and Andreas is at a meeting. Outnumbered and sure that she will not survive, she is elated when Andreas appears at her side. Together they defeat the wolves and take one prisoner. It is once again the work of Sebastian, only he failed.

Andreas decides it is time for a meeting with Sebastian, on Prince Daron’s behalf, to let Sebastian know they are well aware of what he did, and that it was time for the two vampire leaders to call a truce. Obviously, Sebastian had the meeting with every intention of killing Ari and Andreas, only it backfired and Sebastian was the one left in ashes. Andreas is now the new prince of Toronto, but it is a position that will not be easy to hold on to. In a surprise turn of events, Sebastian was getting assistance from the O-Seven. They are the original seven vampires and the eldest. Now he is faced with Sebastian’s werewolves and all his vampires, some who are willing to accept Andreas and others who would challenge him and the possibility of trouble from the O-Seven.

While everything in Toronto is up in the air, Ari is called back to Riverside. Steffan has disappeared and it is feared that he has been kidnapped. The government has approached the werewolf leaders with a proposition for a coalition, which would be helpful to all concerned but not everyone agrees. Was Steffan taken because he has been pushing for this coalition? Has he been taken to ensure that the coalition doesn’t succeed?

This book is full of action, romance, betrayals and lies. There are also many secrets, one of them being the bond that Ari and Andreas have which is getting stronger and stronger. At long last Ari figures out what it is, but you would have to read the book to find out. This is the third book in a wonderful series and they have to be read in order. One of things I love the most about this series is they do not have cliffhangers.
