Seven shifter clans call the Montana mountains home.
But a new evil will stop at nothing to tear their world apart.

For centuries, the shifters that roam Big Sky country have honored a pact to keep the peace. Even bad-boy rancher Wes Calhoun, former leader of a renegade pack, has given up his violent ways and sworn loyalty to the Grey Wolves. But his dark past keeps catching up with him...

Human rancher Naomi Evans cares only about saving the ranch that was her father's legacy. Until a clash with Wes opens up a whole new world—a supernatural world on the verge of war—and Naomi, her ranch, and the sexy cowboy wolf stealing her heart are smack dab in the middle of it.

Seven shifter packs live around Big Sky Country and this story is about Wes Calhoun and the Grey Wolf Pack. Wes was once the pack leader for the Wild Eight Pack, a pack his father led before him and a pack that causes havoc. Wes was responsible for the death of his own father and the woman he loved and when he couldn’t deal with his life anymore he went to the Grey Wolf pack which took him in in spite of his reputation for violence.

Wes has always known that the Wild Eight Pack would not go peacefully into the night and that they were just waiting to appear once again. The new leader once a close friend of Wes’, Donnie is determined to destroy the Grey Wolf Pack and kill Wes for what they consider to be his betrayal by leaving. Although told over and over again by Maverick the Grey Wolf Pack leader to not go looking for trouble, it is something Wes can’t do, especially when he feels his new pack is in danger.

A meeting with an informer leads to disaster when Wes is betrayed but he did discover he was right and that his old pack has enlisted the help of vampires, but not ordinary vampires these are much more deadly and without help the Grey Wolf Pack might lose the war. Chasing the enemy Wes falls victim to an animal trap, leaving him in wolf form facing a woman with a shot gun. His thoughts are if he stays a wolf he can’t escape and if he turns human he will have to kill the woman rather than reveal what he is.

Naomi Evans has taken over running her father’s ranch since his death and against her wishes it was her brother who set the trap. Wolves have been killing off their livestock and now she like Wes is faced with a dilema, kill the wolf or call for help to have him rescued. She doesn’t have time to think before the wolf she was deliberating about is suddenly a man. Wes knows that she is in danger and he also knows that the dead livestock is a result of vampires and not wolves, so after a little tussle between the two he gets her on his horse and to the Grey Wolf Pack for protection.

Although Wes discovered what the Wild Eight pack is up to Maverick is not pleased and orders Wes to stay out of what is going on. The only thing Wes cares about now is protecting Naomi who for some reason he is very attracted to. Naomi also feels something for Wes even though she knows he is a werewolf and dangerous but she sees something inside him, something he refuses to acknowledge.

This was a wonderful story about overcoming the past and finding acceptance. Wes and Naomi’s story is much deeper than I explained in this review and well worth discovering on your own. I can’t wait for book two.
