Delilah McDade has born the brunt of responsibility of her younger brother, Declan's wild lifestyle for years, until the night she learns it's come back to bite both of them in the form of vampire Ash Lockler. Delilah has a prim exterior but she dreams of hot vampires and other nocturnal creatures to give her a break from her life that, while satisfying, is lonely. Ash is tempting but she knows that she could never be a part of his life lived in the shadows.

Ash Lockler lives his undead life as part of the seedy underworld with a stone cold heart. That doesn't stop him from helping damsel-in-distress, Delilah, but he's intent on keeping things all business and ending their association as soon as possible. The problem is that he can't seem to get his body - and heart - to agree with his reasoning when he and Delilah are thrown together in a deadly situation that may get her killed and cost him his freedom.

Delilah McDade once again finds herself having to bail out her younger brother but this time she comes face to face with Ash Lockler a vampire and the $5,000 she believed her brother owed was more like $100,000. Her brother made a bargain with Ash her body on a long term basis as a blood donor. Of course Delilah refused but she had no power over Ash when he glamoured her convincing her that they were long time friends.

Once at home Delilah gladly offered herself to Ash but once he took her blood he knew he could not go any further and considered the debt paid in full. Delilah still under Ash’s glamour did not want to give up and pursued him in spite of his attempt to prove to her she could never fit into his world. Determined she finally gets Ash to have sex with her and he knows that his attraction to her goes much deeper than just sex.

Ash killed his maker and has been forced into years of servitude to Queen Galina and the Vampire Council as their enforcer but when the queen discovers that Ash is connected to Delilah she wants him back as her lover and the only way to do that is to kidnap her and sell her something, she has been doing to other human girls for years. If she is successful Delilah will be a servant supplying sex and blood to the highest bidder.

The only way for Ash to keep Delilah safe is to marry her which she readily agrees to, once married it is forbidden for anyone to touch her but will that stop someone as vicious as Galina and keep her from getting what she wants?

This was a wonderful vampire book with wonderful characters, sex, betrayals and suspense. If you love vampire books as much as I do then this is one that should not be missed.
