The war between the Andrus family and the Taluti family is finally over.  Now that the head of the Taluti family, Xandr, is gone his brother, Zane, has taken over and wants peace as much as the Andrus family does.

Now Kit and Miranda can finally have time to enjoy being with each other without the fear of attack.  After Miranda was kidnapped by Xandr and Kit realized he almost lost her, he finally professed his love to her. Now he gets to prove that love.  Although according to law on his planet Kit cannot legally marry Miranda, he wants her to be everything a wife is except in name.  Children are out of the question since Kit refuses to bring an illegitimate child into the world.  Now it is up to Miranda to decide if she is willing to accept these terms.

Kit has eight children from seven marriages. He wants Miranda to be their mother and run his household.  After the Taluti family destroyed his home, Soldotna, they have been living in the Andrus estate while the home is being redone.  Miranda is willing to do whatever is necessary to be with Kit and the fact that he has a very young child who would have no trouble calling her mama she realizes that this is the life she will have and she would give it all she had.

But even with peace, things for the Andrus’ will run into trouble.  The police still want to arrest them for all their illegal activities, but have not been able to find proof.  But that will soon change, and Miranda will be the cause of it.  What could she have done or known to jeopardize the Andrus family?  Does she know secrets that could bring down the family?

There is nothing in the world Kit wants more than to be able to marry Miranda, something that is impossible until a blood test changes everything.  Whose blood?  What is in the blood?  Why will it make a difference in Miranda’s standing on the planet?

I love Toni Sweeney’s books and when I received this book today, the day I read it and reviewed it, I couldn’t be happier.  I had no doubt when I received the book that I would love it just as I have loved all her other books.  The book is full of surprises and secrets, and it keeps your interest throughout.  The Andrus family is filled with amazing characters from the sisters and brothers to all the children.  Characters you can’t help loving, I know I did.
