Falco Gladstone found his mate at the age of thirteen. When Carter McCloud was being bullied Falco came to his rescue immediately knowing that there was something special about him. For two weeks they were together whenever they could be but then Carter suddenly disappeared. Carter went into foster care and then was taken to live with his aunt and Falco waited for him to someday return.

Twelve years have gone by and things in the pack have changed, Falco’s parents have died and his Uncle Claude became the Alpha after challenging the old one. Falco becomes his uncle’s Beta and soon discovers that Claude does not have the best interests of the pack in mind. He is determined to purchase more land leaving the pack members who are struggling with next to nothing. Claude also insists that Falco find a wife and have lots of pups something he will never do since he knows his mate is out there somewhere even if it is a male.

Claude is homophobic so if Falco reveals he is gay he would either be challenged or thrown out of the pack neither one an option for him. Then the most amazing thing happens when he smells his mate and discovers that Carter is not only in town but owns a pet store. When they get together Carter realizes that Falco is his mate but wants to get to know him first. There is also the matter of his uncle whose enforcer has been nosing around and finds out about Carter.

Two shifters who are mates since they were teenagers and who still have to face prejudice because of their sexual orientation. Falco has to make a decision, Carter or the pack. Only by challenging his uncle can he become Alpha and work to help the pack survive but is he ready to do that. Will love win or will pack win? Loved this story and the characters both Carter, Falco and the secondary characters Boone and PC.

I hope more is coming soon.
