A whisper of someone like her being born has been discussed for aeons by the gods. The question is, who is she, and where is she?
Meara lives an ordinary life with her eccentric grandmother and three siblings in a small Georgian house in Dublin. On her eighteenth birthday, her little sister is kidnapped by an incredibly powerful man, and her entire world turns upside down.
Long hidden family secrets tumble out, and supernatural beings suddenly surround her. However, she thinks she is a side character, the hero's friend, and the heroine's sister. After all, her nature is more girl-next-door than a tortured soul with ninja fighting skills.
Her only desire is to get her sister back and keep her safe but to do so; she must battle dangerous beings and reign in her treacherous heart which has begun to beat for her family's sworn enemy, a gorgeous demigod.

Meara’s eighteenth birthday would be a life changing event. Sneaking out of the house she decided to try ice skating on the frozen pond only to find she was falling in. The water threw her out, a breeze blew her to her car and somehow, she found herself in front of her grandmother’s house where she lives with her three siblings, two older brothers and her six-year-old sister Bree. Three years ago, her parents left for what was supposed to be a short trip that turned into three years.

She entered the house only to discover that her family totally forgot it was her birthday and to make up for it they invited some friends for a small party. It should have been a happy time but her best friend took out a gun and attempted to kill Bree. Her brother saved Bree and took the bullet and that was the moment that Meara realized that she had powers she never knew about. Holding the wound, she healed her brother and the years of being blocked are now free.

Well, so far, her birthday is nothing short of chaotic but it is not over because Bree is kidnapped by a demigod, Kamraan. Kamraan has kidnapped Bree in an attempt to keep her safe and getting her back is near impossible but that won’t stop Meara whose two attempts to bring Bree home do not end well. The only solution is for Meara to stay with Bree at Kamraan’s home where she doesn’t feel welcome. She got what she wants being with Bree and protecting her but she is about to discover something about her family and all the creatures that show up in one form or another.

Bree’s life is in danger and many want her dead but they will have to get through Kamraan and Meara first. Meara discovers she is a mocktail, she has the blood of many, demons, humans and gods and needs to learn to use her healing powers to the best of her ability. While not healing she loves cooking and baking and that ability seems to be welcome by all that live there. While living there Kamraan tends to boss her around as if she were a child and it makes her angry and dislike him, that doesn’t last long because that dislike turns into something more and hiding her feelings from him are difficult because her eyes change colors according to her feelings.

Danger, betrayal, a six-year-old girl that is an absolute hoot, a demigod and mocktail who refuse to accept their true feelings for each other. This was a very long book and at times it was slow moving but from the middle to the end secrets and surprises made the book move at a quicker pace.
