Who brings a Glock on a honeymoon?

Not retired detective Gavin DeGrassi. When his husband Ben asks who he plans to shoot, Gavin has no answer. They’re spending three weeks in Ben’s family cabin near Seattle, not chasing down bad guys. Or are they?

Ben finds evidence the car accident that claimed his parents’ lives more than fifteen years ago was not so accidental. To avenge the Haversons, Gavin dusts off his detective skills and unknowingly paints a target on their backs. Suddenly, Ben is the prime suspect in a crime and the message couldn’t be clearer: drop the investigation or suffer untold consequences.

Gavin will stop at nothing to ensure Ben’s safety and bring the Haversons’ killers to justice, but without help, they’re sitting ducks. Gavin must make unlikely allies in his quest to clear Ben’s name and stop a ruthless crime syndicate. But with his loyalties divided, how far is too far in his quest for justice?

Have been waiting excitedly for the next Power Exchange book and AJ Rose did not disappoint me. I must say that as a 76 year old, new to the M/M genre maybe for the last 10 years, BDSM subject was even more alien to me. This series gives me more understanding than many of the others I have read; truly. The series title itself, gave me food for thought as I read about this couple and see the trust and love that many people never get in any relationship.

This fourth story, our guys had married in book #3, each of them surviving horrific trials along the way. Gavin DeGrassi had been a detective, now retired and teaching police work at the local college, and Ben a doctor in large practice in town. Ben’s family very well to do, his fater and mother killed in auto accident when he was young.

They had owned a cabin, that his Uncle Oliver now had, and for a wedding gift offered Ben first dibs on buying it as he wanted to keep it in the family. When I heard Cabin, only can reach it by boat, I shivered as Ms. Rose has a ingenious imagination, and shuddered thinking how bad could this be!

So let’s go back to the name of the series; Power Exchange. The first book I learned that Gavin was divorced. BDSM was something not in his vocabulary. Being closeted he was uncomfortable with many aspects. Ben has led him as his Dom to learn the love and trust that this type of relationship offers, the Dom does not have the power as you would suspect. We have seen Gain grow in this relationship thru these books, and we the reader, learns as well.

This story was excellent, Ben discovering that his parents were possibly murdered 15 years ago. The two set off, of course to find out who, what, where……But the most meaningful thing I felt was Gavin setting the tone, Gavin set the pace in their relationship, knowing what Ben needed in his anguish over his parents. It was not the Dom leading which made it even lovelier.

The side characters were great..Loved Leo and Uncle Oliver. Want to see if Leo gets what he yearns for, seeing Ben and Gavin. As always quality writing, wonderful story, and our guys are still in one piece. Kudos A.J. Rose
