In this inventive world by KD Worth, teenagers- well they were when they died – are responsible for reaping the souls of the dead and ferrying them to Heaven.

In this third book of the Grim Life series, our prophesied heroes finally face their destinies. Max and Kody truly embody that late teen time of life. They are in turns mature and naïve, making adult decisions and having childlike reactions. Adding in the pressures of literally saving souls and its no wonder these young reapers are having a tough time.

Their relationship is not only key to their success as reapers but it is also the best part of this book. The faith these two have in each other is really beautiful. The religious elements in the book are done well and manage to convey the writer’s message without getting preachy. That is a fine line and Worth does it well. The climactic battle was disturbingly timely and an emotional gut punch all wrapped up together.

The happily ever after was unexpected and well done. I definitely recommend this series for fans of angels and the here-after. This world is well developed and the characters will stay with you long after you put it down.
