A prequel to the scorching paranormal romance, The Boss, coming September 24th.

Maddie Thompson’s life just fell down a rabbit hole. Finding out she's a dragon shifter was one thing—she never quite fit into the human world, and this new reality feels…strangely right. However, discovering the next step is to choose a mate, and if she chooses wrong she'll die, is the other side of crazy. Especially when she already left a piece of her heart with someone who didn't want it.

To say dragon enforcer Fallon Conleth was shocked when the Mating Council summoned him as a potential mate for a newly found dragon doesn’t quite cover it. A mate is rare and precious and many dragons never find theirs. Fallon isn’t sure he’s worthy of the honor, not when so many deserve it more. He’ll just go through the motions and return home alone…until he sees Maddie. The human woman he reluctantly let walk away.

Fallon already broke Maddie's heart once, but if he can't convince her that they're meant to be, she'll die... and he won't be far behind.

Fallon Conleth is a dragon shifter and an enforcer who has been called by the council to find his mate. Finding a mate would lengthened his life span but Fallon has no faith that he will meet his mate. The female has his family brand but he is not the only one that was called. If the mate he choices is the wrong one it would lead to her death and that is exactly what happened to his older brother Finn.

When Fallon entered to meet the female who might be his mate he is shocked to see it is the very woman who has had a hold on him for a year. A year ago he met arson investigator Madeline (Maddie) Thompson and one kiss between them was all it took for him to be obsessed with her, unfortunately she was a human and being with her would be against the rules and cause her possible death so when she moved he did nothing to keep in touch with her.

Maddie always felt that she didn’t belong and after the last investigation, the one where she met and fell for Fallon she realized that she was the one that actually was responsible for the fire. It was another dragon shifter, Cole Hughes who saw what she was and befriended her. He was the one who informed the council and he was convinced that she was his mate, something Fallon was not going to allow to happen.

There is no doubt that the feelings Fallon has for Maddie are returned but she knows picking the wrong mate could mean her death and she is unsure if her feelings for him are lust or love. She feels a friendship for Cole who was there to help her when she discovered she was starting fires something she would continue to do until she was mated. She spent time with Cole, Fallon and the others called but unfortunately the only sparks she got were when she was with Fallon. Only by accepting her mates fire will she become a full dragon another perk of mating.

Whether Fallon and Maddie are mated is not something I will reveal. The book was short but wonderful and I can’t wait for the next book in the series. There is trouble brewing when the king is challenged and the blue dragons are in danger, which means Maddie and Fallon another thing I will not discuss. I will say that there is an excerpt of book two at the end of this one but I didn’t need it because I am lucky enough to have the second book in my possession, yeah for me.
