Book two in The Playgrounds series

When her contract with her Dom is about to expire and her past comes knocking, Luna must make the right moves or risk losing her heart and her soul.

On the surface, Luna Weir leads a perfectly normal life, but behind closed doors, she surrenders control to someone else—Jacob Dakota, who is sexy, charming and entirely dominant. The problem is that they only agreed to this power dynamic for a limited time.

Jacob has never taken on training a submissive for more than three years at a time. However, as their end date draws near, he finds himself more reluctant to let go of Luna than he’d expected. To make matters worse, Luna’s past returns in the form of the charismatic Bryan Walsh, her original Dom, who offers her another choice—to become his after her contract with Jacob expires. But there are secrets between the two of them that not even she can explain.

With the future of their relationship unknown and a suspicious Dom waiting in the shadows, Luna’s will to submit and Jacob’s ability to lead are both tested like never before. Now they must decide if what they feel for each other is strong enough to hold them together beyond their contractual terms—for the measure of a Dominant is how willing their submissive is to serve.

Luna Weir has one and a half months left on her three contracts with Jacob Dakota, her Dom. Jacob only takes a sub for three years training them and at the end of the contract turning them over to the Dom that will be permanent. As the time slips away Luna knows that the last thing she wants is to leave Jacob and at the same time Jacob questions whether he wants his time with Luna to end.

One night at the Playground, a BDSM club Luna comes face to face with her first Dom, Bryan Walsh, a secret she has kept from her friends and from Jacob in spite of the fact that a sub and her Dom should not have secrets from each other and the relationship is built on trust. It takes three days for Jacob to finally calm down enough to meet up with Luna again and he is convinced that there is more to what happened with Bryan than she is revealing. In order for their trust to be reinforced Jacob insists that Luna write down everything that happened between her and Bryan.

Making things even more complicated Luna discovers that she will have to spend time with Bryan since he is a new client at her company. Bryan is determined to get Luna back and he knows that her contract with Jacob is coming to an end but as much as he tries to convince Luna he is the right Dom for her and as much as he shows her nothing but respect and kindness she senses there is more to him that meets the eye. I won’t go into what Bryan is like and the kinds of things he does. I have to leave something for you to discover on your own.

As Luna and Jacob begin to realize what they mean to each other her past threatens everything and Luna will have to decide if she is strong enough to overcome the threats. This book gave me an entire new look at the BDSM scene, Luna has a high stress job and she has to always be in control so being a submissive allows her to give control to someone else, someone who will make the decisions for her freeing her to enjoy what her Dom does to her. A Dom is only as good as the person taking over that role, if the person is basically kind then it will reflect on how he or she treats her sub but it also is true that if the Dom is a person prone to evil then that character trait will also be revealed.

Explicit sex, blackmail and secrets but besides all that it was a story of love and beautifully told.
