It is 1890 and Nora Rushton from book one is living with her husband Hawk and child. Nora if you remember was brought up with a hateful father who always demeaned her. Although she wanted no memories of him when Hawk discovered her father’s trunk she decided to open it. What she found in a hidden compartment was a diary and that is when the story goes back to 1740 and what happened in Tsura Harris’ life.

Tsura returned to Jamestown from Bristol, England a changed woman, no longer full of life and joy she is filled with anger and hatred. She has come to visit her father Hiram who she finds on his death bed and refuses to use her gift to cure him. It has been almost a year since she has used any magic at all and she leaves her father’s side and returns to the docks. It is at the docks that she once again comes face to face with Red Wolf the man who was responsible for all the pain she has suffered, that is her feeling but is it truly what happened.

Three years earlier Tsura waited for Red Wolf to return from the sea only he never came back and she never saw him again. She married Morgan Harris a Baron, a marriage that was unhappy from the start. It was Red Wolf she loved but he obviously did not love her in return or he would never have left. She had no idea that her pain was only equaled by the pain Red Wolf suffered when he lost the love of his life. It was one more way that Morgan destroyed Tsura’s life.

Now they meet once again filled with hate and when he finds out that Romulus a black rogue is after Tsura he is determined to save her. He doesn’t know that Tsura would welcome death her life is empty but he will save her in spite of herself. He convinces himself that he is doing it for her parent’s sake and never once admits that he may be doing it for himself. He takes her to his tribe the Ama’s where he knows she will be safe until he returns to kill Romulus. Tsura’s legacy the ruby pendant is once again the reason she is being sought. Her promise to her mother to protect it at all costs is the only thing that keeps her going.

In addition to Romulus seeking the pendant the Renoldi claim is also looking for it and they don’t just want the pendant they want Tsura’s life. The only one that seems to care if Tsura lives or dies is Red Wolf, she wants to return to Jamestown leaving the pendant behind and face whatever is after her. I will not discuss the reason Red Wolf left or what has happened to make Tsura so bitter and hateful because it is something you have to read for yourself. If you loved the first two books in the series then you will absolutely love this one. My one complaint is that it ended and I wanted more.

This is the last book in the series and all questions are answered, and I couldn’t put it down till I had all the answers. I actually almost cheated and wanted to go to the end to find out what happens but I didn’t.
